Recent Cambridge English Placement Test results from several education departments in South Kalimantan (2022 & 2023) show that, despite six years of English instruction, our high school graduates only reach an A1 level—equivalent to primary school graduates in Asia Pacific countries using Cambridge English standards—indicating performance far below expectations.

CEQ ADOPTION
The adoption of Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) is crucial for English proficiency among elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as for improving English teachers’ quality. This initiative supports the implementation of Permendikbud No. 12 of 2024, particularly the revitalization of English as a subject and its return to elementary schools starting in 2026/2027.
